Bournemouth's Hidden Gems

What are you up to this bank holiday weekend? I'm heading back to Bournemouth for Chloe's much anticipated hen party and thought I'd share some of my hidden gems of my beautiful home town in conjunction with Travelodge*.

Bournemouth Colosseum

Bournemouth Colosseum is a beautiful 19 seat cinema set in the basement of a cute bar/cafe in Westbourne. You bring your own movie & your friends and snuggle up in the plush seats with a drink and a blanket. Perfection.

They also have their own listings complete with classics such as a Streetcar named Desire and the Green Mile and more recent releases including The Book Thief.

If I was having a hen party, I would totally hire this for a viewing of Breakfast at Tiffany's with the girls.

Branksome Beach restaurant

Take a windswept stroll up from Bournemouth pier one morning and enjoy breakfast with the most beautiful view.

We did this last Easter and were not disappointed at all. The breakfast itself was lovely, with a really yummy vegetarian option (mmm haloumi for breakfast), staff were polite and it was made all the better by being right on one of the best beaches in the world.

Bournemouth Pier

Ok, I really don't know if this counts as a "hidden gem" because.. well.. it's not exactly hidden. But I have the fondest memories of summer evening walks along the beach ending with a swing on the chairoplanes or ride on the carousel with my sisters.

You're also within walking distance of the town centre or gardens or can pop in to the oceanarium if the famous Bournemouth weather hasn't quite made a show!

There is also "PierZip" the first zipwire from pier to beach which I haven't had a chance to try out yet but if I do.. I'll be sure to let you know!!

Camden Bar

Ok, so I'm a bit biased because a friend of my sisters (and stepbrothers) own Camden but whenever I pop back to Bournemouth I try and sneak a visit to Camden in whether that be for drinks, breakfast or lunch.

It helps that the staff are really lovely, and some of them are old school friends but the food is always great and the atmosphere is brilliant. They also opened Camden , Westbourne last year which I'm hoping to get the chance to visit this weekend.

& finally.. a little further afield: Honeybrook Farm

Honeybrook is a gorgeous working farm set just on the skirts of Wimborne town centre .. so not too rural if you're more of a country person. You pay per car which I'm told is an advantage for groups/large families.

I visited two years ago with my goddaughters and we had a lovely time seeing the animals and playing on the park. Highly recommended.

If you are planning a visit to Bournemouth anytime soon, check out my Hidden Gems and check out Travelodge for your accommodation.

*I was reimbursed by Travelodge for this post.

Review: We are Tea

We are Tea are an independent, ethical, multi-award-winning tea business based in London and after contacting them on twitter I was very lucky to receive a box of tea goodies for review* and also to share with you in my FIRST EVER COMPETITION which I'll be running very soon- keep your eyes peeled!!

Wednesday afternoon when I'd just been woken from my nap by the guy strimming hedges and I begrudgingly left my bed to try and get things done. The obvious tea choice therefore was Activitea- The Energising Tea

Activitea (from the Super Tea range) comes both in loose leaf form and also in beautiful, whole leaf tea bags. There is nothing I like more than a fancy looking tea bag and these are biodegradable. Tea when it's doing good is the best!

Activitea contains: black tea, sunflower petals, red rose buds, rose petals, fennel, aniseed, liquorice root, cardamon, black pepper, ceylon cinnamon bits, ginger bits, cloves, ginseng.

It smells amazing as soon as the packet is open and because the cinnamon, ginger & cloves it's like Christmas in a cup. Perfect is enjoy on it's own as a perk-me-up (and trust me it really is energising!) but also could be added to your mulled cider recipe!

The second tea I tried was serenitea - the calming tea.  I tried this late one night when I couldn't sleep and felt really panicky. Ingredients are:  green tea, tulsi, apple pieces, melissa, orange peel, lemongrass, lime blossom tree, lemon verbena.

I'm not normally a huge green tea fan as I find it quite bitter and have to add sugar or honey to make it drinkable but with the citrus pieces and peels this was really flavoursome and easy to drink. Definitely my go to for next time I need some chill time.

What's your favourite herbal tea?

Check back soon for my review of the loose leaf English breakfast tea, tea infuser & daintea- the skinny tea!

*I received this items free of charge in exchange for a review, all opinions are honest & my own. I will never review anything which doesn't fit with Twentea Something and will always be honest. Images provided by We are Tea as well as my own.

August Goals

Ok, I PROMISEEE August is the month I get my butt in gear with blogging!! Currently thing are a bit quiet here and here's why. But let's talk about what I had planned for July:

1. Get my stone & a 1/2 award- Nopeeee. I was doing really well and was 4lb away from my stone and a half award and then I did a bit too much socialising so that goal is a little further away. Obviously being on holiday isn't great for being on plan but I think that once I'm back I can get back there quickly.

2. Declutter the house- I finally unpacked my suitcase of clothes and feel like the flat is a little less cluttered now. There's still some work to do.

3. Start Coach to 5K or ANY exercise -  I did do this! I did week one, day one of coach to 5K but I'm not sure running is for me! I have invested in kettlebells, dumbells and resistance bands and have done two lots of circuits in my living room.

4. Blog at least once a week - Wwelllllll... no...

Here's what I'm hoping to achieve in August:

1. Get my stone & a 1/2 award- I would love to be at target for Chloe's wedding in September but August is jam packed with social activities so I think aiming slightly smaller is the aim right now!

2. Be exercising 3 times a week for 30 mins- it's so easy to go in one burst and then not again for days or weeks but I want it to be regular commitment to see the real difference

3. Blog at least once a week & host a giveaway- all the plans are set I just need to actually get it down in a blog!

What are your aims for August?

Take a Bubble Break

There is nothing I love more than a bath. In fact, when we were house hunting I was pretty insistent that we had to have a bath. So I was really excited to receive a Bathtime Bubble Break parcel* from bathstore the other day who are on a mission to help us reclaim our bathrooms.

Do you like a bath? Be honest, do you realllyy switch off when you have a bath? As in, phone away, no social media, no interruptions? No me neither.  It's time to stop that!! Here's the goodies to help me reclaim my bath time:

As you can see, I was really lucky to receive some lovely items to help me relax including:

  • Sandlewood & musk candle- sandlewood is definitely one of my most favourite scents and this candle was amazing!! I might have to buy another one when I'm done!
  • Face mask- a lovely honey peel-off mask which left my face super soft.
  • Body lotion- the literal icing on the cake, so luxurious to slather myself in after my bath.
  • Bath bomb- again, I think this included sandlewood and it is gorgeous, the whole parcel smelt incredible.. and it was huge so I've got plenty left to crumble in my future baths

How cute is this guy? I think he needs a name!!! Tweet me with your idea!!!

and, sticking strictly to the rules.. I left my phone in the bedroom and just enjoyed my Nook (e-reader) for company, ok.. so it's electronic but with no Facebook, twitter, texts it was just me and some Pride and Prejudice fan faction. ohhh.Mr Darcy!

bathstore want you to reclaim your bathroom too and they're sharing their top tips on their blog

*I recieved this parcel from the bathstore free of charge, I was not obligated to blog or link about the company and will only blog about products and companies I believe are relevant.
