Wedding Wednesday- Award winning bridesmaids

Hello Lovelies

Happy Wednesday!! Tomorrow is my birthday. Hooray!

Wedding planning is fully underway and I'm hoping to share an update with you next week but in the meantime, but in the meantime, I have been inspired by Weddington Way to share my favorite "red carpet" bridesmaid looks.

If you haven't found your bridesmaid look I totally recommend Weddington Way, simply answer a few simple questions about colour, look, style etc. and be amazed by all the beautiful suggestions. I could hardly pick my favourite.

Naturally, my bridesmaids have to be in "Emerald Green" and it's a winter wedding so no bare legs at the George-White wedding.

So it had to be: Watters Mahogany Bridesmaid Dress

emerald bridesmaid

How wonderfully glamorous is that? It looks so flattering as well, like it would skim any curve, lump or bump (not that my girls need that!)

Now, no bridesmaid (or red carpet walker) would be complete without accessories. Here are my picks:

What bridesmaid dress would you choose?

Blog Chat Tuesday- Dearest Love

Ok, so I am excited by Blog Chat Tuesday every time but this week I am featuring one of my most favourite bloggers, who also happens to be the sweetest girl I know! I spent a lot of 2014 linking up for a coffee break with Jenna and so I am really excited to be featuring her gorgeous blog Dearest Love today. So here we go!

1. Can you tell me a bit about yourself?

I'm a second grade teacher living in Atlanta, Georgia with my husband and two kitties. I have dreams of becoming a floral designer and full time creative by the time I'm 30, and I'm currently taking the steps to accomplish that. Cooking, creating new recipes, blogging, and traveling with my husband are some of my favorite things to do!

2. Can you tell me a little about your blog? (i.e. whats it about, how did it get started etc?)
I started my blog nearly five years ago while I was still in college. I didn't blog regularly or with a purpose until a little over a year ago. My blog is not only a place for me to share my life with others, but to learn from and connect with people from all over the world. I blog about cooking, recipes, style, travel, faith, and random musings.
3. What's your favourite thing about blogging?

My favorite thing is building relationships and true friendships with other bloggers around the world! I've now met in person some of my favorite bloggers, and we have become the best of friends. We support each other, talk blogging, and share life with each other. I never would have met these people if it weren't for God leading us all to write our blogs.
4. What's your least favourite thing?

This is a tough one, because there really isn't much that I don't like about blogging. I'd have to say having to be extra careful to make sure to always be following the law of copyright. One misused image or phrase without proper permission can get you sued quickly. That kind of freaks me out, so I spend a lot of time double and triple checking to make sure there is nothing on my blog that can spark a lawsuit.
5. If you could write any other type of blog what would it be?

I would definitely one day like to write a blog completely devoted to cooking and recipes, or possibly floral design. That would be so much fun!
6. Do you have any blogs that you'd recommend?

Oh, there are so many! One of my favorite bloggers is Amanda of The Lady Okie. She is authentic and she makes me laugh so much. Another blog I love to read is Paper & Stitch. She blogs all things florals and recipes, plus she has great style.
7. What three things would you say to wannabe bloggers?

Don't compare yourself to other bloggers, find your own voice, and read A Beautiful Mess's BlogLife!

8. Anything else you'd like to add.

Thanks so much, Laura!

Thank you, Jenna. It was a priviledge to chat with you today! One of my favourite things about Blog Chat Tuesday is learning from other bloggers and I have definitely got BlogLife on my must read!

Money talks Monday- February

Hello Happy Monday!

It's been a while since I talked money on a Monday. But I'm pretty proud of where my money situation is at right now and figured it was time for an update:

Nationwide Credit Card: Paid off and about to be cancelled.

Overdraft: £500 - My overdraft was at £1500 but at the start of February I decreased the limit to £500 and I'm currently just in to my overdraft (it's an interest free overdraft for another 18 months so I'm not stressing too much about it) by about £100.

Buttt.. i've got £600 in a separate account which I'm intending to transfer some over to try and keep in the black (or is it the red? I'm never sure..)

Barclaycard credit card: I moved all my credit card debit from my nationwide card to this card because its 0% for 36 months. I WASSS doing really well at paying it off at least £150 a month and had got it down to £936.34. But thennnnn I needed to buy my wedding dress (which, by the way I obviously didn't pay full price for.. thanks quidco!!) so its currently at £1531.34 but I am confident that I can pay that off again even if I'm paying it off at least £150 a month that's completely paid off in about 10 months. I'm also hoping to use some of the money from quidco and also form the £600 in my separate account to pay this off. I have a plan!!

Sainsburys credit card - ahhh. This is my inability to say no! I got coerced into getting a Sainsburys credit card whilst I was shopping one day. But I haven't received the pin yet and I'm pretty much going to cancel it as soon as I have all the paperwork (actually.. I really should just do it now.. I'm so bad at phoning banks!)

It is feeling really good to be back in control of my money and feeling like within the next year I will be debt free (excluding student debt which I've yet to start paying for) I am still in need of budgetting lessons because I just can't stick to it. But I am working on lowering my month outgoings including getting my contact lens spend down from £18.00 to £12.40! and I am determined in March I will get into the habit of writing down ALLLL my outgoings!

So I don't think I'll be updating money Monday every month but hopefully next time I'll be even closer to being debt free! Hooray!

What are your budgetting tips?

Great British Sewing Bee - Week 1

It's bacccccccckkkkk. Great British Sewing Bee is my favourite programme and I've been waiting a year for the start of season 3.

I've missed Claudia. I've missed May & Patrick. I've missed the sewing room. Ahhh I'm so excited.

So, last year I told myself I'd blog about each episode, this year I'm making good on that! So every week I'll be blogging about each episode as it is on!

If you've never seen Great British Sewing Bee (GBSB) then it's basically The Great British Bake off but sewing. The contestant "battle it out" in the sewing room each week completing three tasks: the pattern challenge (working from a set pattern), the alteration challenge (transforming an item of clothing) and the made to measure challenge (creating an item to perfectly fit the real life model)

So. the fabric of the week... Cotton

Pattern Challenge: Women's Cotton Trousers

You could definitely tell I'm a sewing bee geek, as the contestants picked their fabrics I gave a sharp intake of breath if they picked any complicated, patterned fabric that would be difficult to match or, from Andy "Blimey O'Riley that fabric will be hard"

and the introduction to Neela's amazing pin cushion wristlet and Annie's declaration "I hate baking, I love sewing... here's my piggy pin cushion" (gahhh I adore the Scottish accent)

As the contestants work we were introduced to each of them with little clips of their life. They all seemed to have the nicest houses. This is also the point that twitter started suggesting contestant to follow! But ahhh I fell in love with alllllll the contestants!! One of my favourite things about GBSB is how lovely everyone is, and as the weeks go on they become so close knit. You can get to know all the contestants here

and then on to the judging...the other thing I LOVEEEE about GBSB is the judges: May and Patrick are the sweetest judges ever, there is just no nastiness it's all so polite!

Source: BBC
So, which were my favourite trousers?  I have to say, Neil's pink flowery ones. Not my style, but beautifully made! Also, Lorna.. who I didn't remember from the introduction, what amazing Hawaiian fabric! (and the judges agreed with me, naturally!!) Honestly, until I watch GBSB I forget about my love of fabric!

Alteration Challenge: Denim Shirt

The alteration challenge is my favourite, the imagination is amazing! (I totally realise I am gushing about a BBC programme throughout this entire post!)

The weirdest thing about this challenge was everyone seemed to be making a denim skirt to the point I thought that was the challenge!! But thankfully, there was a little bit more to the transformations and quite a selection of outfits by the end.

My favourites? Deborah's skirt, Amanda's little girls dress and Ryan's halter neck.

I did think Alex's alteration was the best in terms of transformation.. what a skirt!!

Made to measure challenge: Summer dress

Two rules:
1. Has to be made out of a patterned fabric
2. Has to fit model perfectly.

Firstly, the models are so patient, where do they come from? I want to feature on one show, maybe season 4?

I got a bit distracted at this point in the show because I was buying my wedding dress ahhhhh *sorry, off topic*

But, my favourites? Lorna's.. seriously, I think she might win the entire series! and also, Alex's Cherry print (despite the technical bits the judges pointed out) and Debroah's (the poppy fabric was stunningggg)

and so the end...

I won't say here who goes butttt their leaving line was "nevermind, we'll still name a calf after you..." brilliant!!

Did you watch GBSB? You can join in the conversation each week 8pm-9pm Thursday with #GBSB and also follow my personal twitter for my sewing bee tweets!
