Blog Chat Tuesday- 24 Hours From Home

Hi Lovelies,

I'm so excited to be back for the first blog chat Tuesday in 4 weeks! This week I'm chatting with the beautiful Claire from 24 Hours From Home. I know if she wasn't emigrating to Australia she probably wouldn't be blogging but I kind of want her to stick around so we can hang out!

1. Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Hi! I'm Claire, I live in North London, UK with some very cool housemates, 2 cats and 1 naughty, very fluffy dog. I am a freelance digital marketing consultant by day, and avid Netflix watcher, video game nerd and blogger by night.

2. Can you tell me a little about your blog? (i.e. whats it about, how did it get started etc?)
I started my blog because I am in the process of emigrating to another continent. I wanted a little outlet to tell others about my travels, beauty finds and NOT TRYING TO PANIC about moving. It's called 24 Hours From Home because that's how long the journey will take for me to get back to the UK once I've moved.
I love to travel, and I'm obsessed with travel beauty, and beauty on the road in general. I also try and take a photo of my feet in all the places I visit!

3. What's your favourite thing about blogging?
Aside from the writing part. I like that it's separate from work, that I can inject humour and personality into my writing, and create my own brand vision!

4. What's your least favourite thing?
I think there is a stigma still that blogging isn't respected as journalism, which is a shame. It's perceived to be a simple process when really most bloggers spend their time managing affiliate links, networking and appearing available 24/7. I think that inroads are being made, and we're starting to be taken a little seriously, but it's not going to be easy.

5. If you could write any other type of blog what would it be?
Either food or films related, or food for films! I have major passions for both!

6. Do you have any blogs that you'd recommend?
I've been reading this one since it began, it's a great lifestyle/fashion/interiors blog, headed up by an editor in chief and a bunch of additional writers. It's incredibly inspirational. It's also a refreshing change to see a blog not headed up by just one person, you get to see a whole vareity of opinions, articles and insights.

7. What three things would you say to wannabe bloggers?
1. Learn to code! Join and sign up for the HTML/CSS course - it's all free - this is an invaluable tool for bloggers - especially when/if you are self hosting.
2. Asset optimisation! Assets = Images/Videos etc... You might just ignore all those boxes you see when you upload an image, but it's vitalto fill it in. If you do a Google Image search for 'Wigwam Motel' my blog is the second hit, and I get ridiculous amounts of traffic through it.
3. Write about what you love! There's no need to write about lipstick 'just to get free stuff' if you don't know/how what to write about it in the first place!

8. Anything else you'd like to add.
Feel free to follow me on twitter and instagram if you want even more insights into my chaotic life!

Thank you so much, Claire. How awesome does a food for films blog sound??

Until next time.....
